OSX tracks steps through Apple Health on iPhone or Health Connect on Android.
Garmin does not connect directly to OSX. Your Garmin data first syncs into Apple Health or Health Connect, and OSX reads it from there.
iPhone
Step 1: Connect Apple Health to OSX
Open the OSX app and tap your profile picture (top right on Home).
Select Connected Apps.
Choose Apple Health.
Allow the required permissions.
This lets OSX read your data from Apple Health. If your Garmin steps still don't appear, continue to Step 2.
Step 2: Connect Garmin Connect to Apple Health
Open Garmin Connect.
Go to More (the menu).
Tap Settings.
Tap Connected Apps.
Select Apple Health.
Allow the required permissions.
This lets Garmin write your activity data into Apple Health.
Android
Step 1: Connect Health Connect to OSX
Open the OSX app and tap your profile picture (top right on Home).
Select Connected Apps.
Choose Health Connect.
Allow the required permissions.
This lets OSX read your data from Health Connect. If your Garmin steps still don't appear, continue to Step 2.
Step 2: Connect Garmin Connect to Health Connect
Open Garmin Connect.
Go to More (the menu).
Tap Settings.
Tap Connected Apps.
Select Health Connect.
Allow the required permissions.
This lets Garmin write your activity data into Health Connect. Without this step, Health Connect stays empty.
Android 12 or older: install Health Connect from the Google Play Store first.
Android 13 or newer: Health Connect is already included (it may just need updating).
