It's set high on purpose.
The targets are around 1.8 to 2 g per kilo for men and 1.6 to 1.8 g per kilo for women. It's a number to aim at, not to nail to the gram. Land a bit under and you're still getting plenty.
If you're overweight, the weight that counts is the one you're aiming for, not the one you have today.
The whole idea is eating well and getting enough protein, not chasing every gram. Build every meal around a real protein source (meat, fish, eggs, dairy) and you'll get close without thinking about it.
Short one day? A few eggs, Greek yogurt, cheese or beef jerky. Real snacks beat a powder every time.
